In 1969, Bob Gerard founded G.R. Hobbies at his garage premises in Leicester to sell Minox subminiature cameras. Always fascinating by engineering, 'Mr Bob' was so impressed with the technology that he went from a customer of Minox to a retailer.
From 1969-1987, Mr Gerard sold the Minox cameras and films, and accessories to first his friends and colleagues, then (with varying degrees of patience) to members of the public. From 1988 to 2016, the business grew and was run by Steve Britton, as M.S. Hobbies. Hobbies was well-known as the retailer for Minox and Leica cameras and accessories: advertising in A.P for many years.
From 2016, a new owner of M.S. Hobbies takes over: Paul O'Sullivan. As a former customer of Mr Gerard and Mr Britton, I was enthused by these tiny cameras from 1981, whilst at university. My role is to expand to all aspects of analog and digital photography into the digital age: we offer scanning of not only the Minox but also 110, Kodak Disc, 16mm films and film processing,
We also offer conventional film processing for all your historical negatives for all formats. Moving image is covered by our video and cine transfer services for all formats of VHS (PAL/NTSC/SECAM) and cine.
